We are hiring associates at the preschool, elementary, and secondary levels for the 2025-26 school year.
Terms of Employment: All student scheduled days for the 2025-26 school year, minimum $16.50/hour.
Benefits: The Van Meter Community School District offers a comprehensive benefits package, including IPERS. Employees with proof of existing health insurance can choose to receive a monthly cash stipend in lieu of insurance. Employees receive 15 days of sick leave and 2 personal days each year.
Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM Fridays 7:45 AM - 1:45 PM
Performance Responsibilities:
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Commits to ongoing professional growth to support the unique needs of individual students.
- Assists with accurate data collection.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
- Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Assists with large group and small group activities.
- Assists with the supervision of the students during emergency drills, assemblies, breaks, and field trips.
- Guides independent work, enrichment work, and remedial work set up as assigned by the teacher.
- Maximizes use of time throughout the day.
- Implements behavior support plan.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Demonstrates collaborative skills in a team environment.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills.
- Supports generalization of skills in an integrated setting.
- Exhibits regular, prompt, and reliable attendance.
- Assists the teacher.
For a preschool associate position, applicants must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) a CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) or a Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in any field. Preschool associates will have a professional development plan and participate in ongoing professional development each year. You must complete CPR/First Aid/Mandatory Reporter Child Abuse and remain current.
